Zingiber Cassumunar

The main active ingredients in Plai extracts and oils are phenylbutanoid compounds, such as zerumbone, panduratin A, and cassumunarins A, B & C. These compounds have been shown to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and enzymes, such as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and lipoxygenase (LOX). COX-2 and LOX are responsible for the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which are inflammatory mediators that play a role in pain and inflammation.

In addition to their anti-inflammatory effects, Plai extracts and oils have also been shown to have analgesic properties. Zerumbone, in particular, has been shown to inhibit the activity of transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1 (TRPV1), which is a pain receptor that is activated by heat, capsaicin, and other stimuli.

Plai extracts and oils are typically applied topically to the affected area using a compress, massage oil, gel, or ointment. When applied to the skin, Plai extracts and oils are absorbed into the underlying subdermal tissues, where they can exert their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

Plai extracts and oils have been shown to be effective in treating a variety of ailments including muscle, joint, and injury pains such as:
